It constantly amazes me how the blog keeps growing, it's something I would have never excepted back in August when I started it as just a way to get my opinions out there, I didn't expect many people to read it (if any), and that I would still be blogging now, it was just an experiment for me.
Now, here I am in the last few weeks looking at how fast it's grown. In the last 3 weeks I have went from a 400 reader a week average, to now breaking the 1,000 mark this weekend.
My blog has gotten recognition from some popular people in the atheist/skeptic blogging world, starting about 3 weeks ago
First, the blog went from 400 to 700 readers a week after a guest post at the blog Confessions of a Heretic Husband, then the biggest spikes in readership come after some honors the blog received this week:
Jack Vance added me to the blogroll at his hugely popular blog Atheist Revolution, which has lead to a sustained increase of people stopping by.
Blogger Reason Being wrote a blog post where linked to a blog post of mine, saying he agreed with it and expanded his thoughts on the topic further.
Andrew Hall of Laughing in Purgatory invited me to take part in a campaign to boycott the Boy Scouts, a list of all the blogs that participated was posted on many of the over two dozen blogs that joined in, bringing readers and other great bloggers over to Ramblings of Sheldon. That wasn't all, he also gave me the opportunity to write a guest post for his blog.
I'm grateful for the honors that I have received from other bloggers, and if you are a new reader here, I welcome you, please stay around and keep reading. If you are a fellow atheist/skeptic blogger, let me know, and I'll check out your blog, I'll be open to the possibility of writing a guest post for your blog, or you writing for this blog.
Thanks to all who are reading this blog, and to those who have helped make it a success!

Glad to see you doing well. Get much traffic from Google+? I'm thinking of using it more.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's how I got started, if you know someone who is already on there, ask them if they can help direct followers your way, I would be glad to help in that regard. :)
DeleteI've been there from the beginning, just not in an entirely atheist capacity. :-)
DeleteAh, it's your personal page?
DeleteJust added you to my blogroll, BTW.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteHappy to help out. Hey Grundy, I have not seen much of a traffic impact from Google+ yet, but it has been awhile since I've looked.
ReplyDeleteSolright, I get some decent post ideas from g+
DeleteI am not an atheist... however, I am a sponge and like to be aware of the world around me... I hate ignorance. We all are individuals and we all have something to offer the world around us... your opinion tho in my book may be sometimes tainted is appreciated... i think it is good to hear your voice and see that something is being stood for. i wish more people would speak up. The world my son is growing up in is an ugly world. there is no good excuse for that, people should want to achieve better. undebatable
DeleteHi, Kelly, I always like having liberal Christians around, like you, they are usually rather open minded people. It helps to remind me that though fundamentalism may still be the majority in US Christianity, there are good people out there in that faith.
DeleteHey vjack, I'm thankful for the help, and I had heard from Andrew of Laughing in Purgatory that you make it a regular policy to help struggling bloggers like me. I'm glad there's popular bloggers out there like you that haven't forgotten their humble beginnings :)
DeleteKeep up the great work Sheldon! My name is John Richards btw. To vjack and Grundy---I have never used google+ to promote my blog, and to be honest, don't know the first thing about how to use it and what it is good for...is this something I should look into more?
ReplyDeleteGrundy, you mentioned getting post ideas from it---How/where does that happen?
There is an active atheist community that posts a lot of thoughts and links. Like Facebook, but cleaner and with less religious people.
DeleteI second Grundy's comment, there's a strong atheist/skeptic community on Google +, it is far better than facebook, and it's very easy to build a large following.
