I absolutely loathe the common logical fallacy known as the slippery slope argument. It's the belief that if event A happens (or doesn't happen), then event B will automatically happen, with disastrous results. It's a very unsound argument, and usually when event A happens, the apocalypse predicted by the person making the slippery slope argument never actually happens.
It's all just a bad scare tactic, designed to make sure that the person making this logical fallacy gets their way. I've been seeing this argument more often lately, mostly in opposition to gay marriage.
